In the following lines you can learn more about Naxos and what is worth visiting.

Some  of the recommended places  that we suggest to our customers are:

The Ancient Temple Of Demeter, dating back to the 6th century BC , made out of the naxian finest marbles, located near the village of Sagri.

Enjoying the panoramic view of fields and valleys, you head towards Halki ,once the capital of Naxos and the most picturesque village on the island. The easy access by the main asphalt road gives you the opportunity to hire a car, a buggy or a mid size ATV. Pay attention as it is prohibited to park on the main street that crosses the village.

Don’t miss out on visiting the Distillery of Kitro , the entrance is free and you can learn all about the liquor distillation as well as try the Famous Naxos Kitron liqueur .

After your liqueur tasting follow the signs to Panagia Drosiani , one of the most beautiful and oldest Byzantine temples not only in Naxos but also in the whole Balkans. It dates back at the end of the 6th century A.D. It is full of rare paintings, the most famous of these, are two paintings in the Dome of the temple that presents Jesus Christ as a young boy and then as an adult man. The rest of the paintings that have survived have been evaluated that they were made in the 11th century to the 14th century.

Enjoy the Greek Hospitality!

Apollonas, the lovely fishing village, located on the northern side of the island.Car rental, a full size motorbike rental, big size ATV or buggy is the best way for this trip . Apollonas has a rich history since antiquity when it was famous for its marble quarries and export of Naxian marble. In the quarries an unfinished statue was found , with a height of 10.5 meters, dating back to the 6th century BC. It is believed, by many archeologists, to represent the god Dionysus.Today the statue is still in the marble quarries and it can be visited just before the village entrance.

On the way back to the town and at about 6 km, you will find the tower of Agia. It is estimated that was built  during the 17th century and is an architectural example of the post-Byzantine era.The seemingly remote location of the tower is not irrelevant, as towers were usually built in places that would not be easily accessible in case of pirate attack so to ensure the protection of the residents – as well as the best possible supervision of the sea.

Apeiranthos, the largest mountain village of Naxos , also known as the marble town. Apeiranthos is full of marble houses, squares and charming taverns and cafes. If you like visiting museums,Apeiranthos has five to choose from: the geological museum, the archeological museum, the folklore museum, the natural history museum and the museum of visual arts.Only 45′ from city center by a car, a medium-large size atv, a big buggy or even a large motorbike. Outside of Apeiranthos village the parking place is really helpful.

Location Flerio (Melanes) : The remarkable statue of Kouros can be visited outside the village of Melanes .This ancient statue is 6 meters long and dates back to the 7th century .Archeologists believe that  it was abandoned due to faults in the marble structure .The statue still lays in the exact spot where it was initially discovered .You can get there either by a car,a mid size atv,a buggy or a light motorcycle.

Beaches

Beaches in Naxos are different from the beaches in other islands of the Cyclades, due to their characteristic long length. Most of them have soft white sand and crystal turquoise  waters.

The most beautiful sandy beaches are located on the western side of the island, which is also the most touristy developed part. The most famous beaches are Plaka beach, the longest sandy beach on the island, and Agios Prokopios beach. They are considered among the most beautiful beaches in Greece and are well organized with sunbeds, water sports, restaurants and hotels.Don’t miss Alyko beach, ideal if you like snorkeling, a beach which is part of the protected area for its cedar forest.Other beaches are Mikri Vigla, really famous among windsurfers and kitesurfers,Agios Georgios beach ,with its shallow waters,is ideal if you are traveling with kids.It has all the facilities needed since it is located just a short distance from town.

Of course there are even more beaches for you to discover, such as Kastraki beach,Orkos beach,Ammitis beach,Glyfada beach the list is endless…

Pay attention as driving on the beach and in the dry lakes/salt lakes is forbidden.
